Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Categoria Lazio[edit]

Per certe categorie, tipicamente Stati, Regioni, Città, viene sempre posto un avviso "This category has become too crowded. It should list very few images directly. Files should be moved to subcategories where appropriate. New subcategories can be created. Some files need to be moved elsewhere.". In pratica si chiede di indicare una categoria più specifica di quella "generica" utilizzata. In questo caso c'era già Government buildings in Rome che ritengo adeguata alla fotografia. Per un altro verso, se una foto si trova nella categoria ad es. Rome, è contenuta in Municipalities in Lazio, e quindi in Lazio; in questo modo si può evitare di inserire la categoria di grado più "alto". (vedi anche Italy... contiene solo categorie). mac 11:32, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Da quello che ho visto, velocemente, non abbiamo ancora niente di specifico. Se pensi a qualcosa di più specifico di Buildings in Rome (le categorie generiche di solito sono in inglese), potresti sviluppare qualcosa a partire da Administrative buildings in Italy, creando un'alberatura per le regioni e\o per le funzioni (amministrazione statale, regionale, comunale...). Di solito, prima di creare qualcosa di nuovo, mi faccio un giro tra le categorie simili, butto giù uno schema di massima,e poi vado. Buon lavoro, :-) mac 06:26, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

sai quale è il mio dubbio? Che qualche sysop si mette a curiosare nei tuoi upload e applica regole rigidissime sulla libertà di panorama (visto che son palazzi italiani) e non solo ti nega il flag ma poi cancella le foto. meglio che ti segnali con calma a un sysop italiano competente. Ho visto File:Sede AGID Sede ITA.jpg e la foto della SIAE; ho caricato File:2017-03-24 EUR AgID 2.jpg e File:2017-03-24 EUR AgID.jpg. Piazza Dante Roma[edit]

Buongiorno Carlo. Vedo che ogni tanti arrichisci commons con immagini di edifici pubblici italiani, spesso sedi istituzionali di organi governativi o costituzionali. Molto probabilmente, nel corso del tempo, anche io avro' utilizzato alcune delle tue immagini/foto per migliorare alcune voci e quindi ti ringrazio. Siccome non vivo a Roma (ne' in Europa) vorrei cortesemente chiederti un favore: Qualche mese fa, in piazza Dante a Roma (Esquilino) e stato inaugurato il palazzo delle casse di risparmio postali, ristrutturato per 90 mln di euro, quale nuova sede del Dipartimento delle informazioni per la sicurezza, organo governativo di coordinamento dei servizi segreti AISE e AISI. Il lavoro di restauro e di ristrutturazione e' stato notevole, e il palazzo meriterebbe una nuova foto, attuale, caricata su commons [1].
